Mark Butzmann studied law in Mannheim and Gothenburg/Sweden. Early on he specialised on legal areas with a particular relevance for commercial enterprises. During his legal training, he worked for a renowned law firm in Ludwigshafen/Rhine and conducted several litigation cases on behalf of companies. After qualification, he worked abroad for several years for the international law firm of bnt Rechtsanwälte which specialises in advising German companies in Middle and Eastern Europe. He was first based in Riga/Latvia. He then became managing partner of the Talinn/Estonia office, responsible for building up their legal practice. He advised renowned German and Scandinavian companies on Corporate, Insolvency and Labour Law, Intellectual Property and International Contract Law as well as cross-border transactions (M&A, company divestitures and joint ventures) and was Counsel of Trust of the German and Austrian Embassy in Tallinn. After 3 years he left Tallinn to join v. KEUSSLER-Rechtsanwälte.

At v. KEUSSLER-Rechtsanwälte, he focuses on advising internationally operating companies on legal aspects of their operating business, in particular on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, on corporate law matters as well as M&A projects. In this context, he can regularly use his international expertise and contacts, particularly to Eastern Europe and Scandinavia.

Mark Butzmann is co-author of several publications in international legal papers on matters of Corporate Law as well as in the area of Life Science. He is a regular speaker at events, last at an international conference on European Insolvency Law in Vilnius/Lithuania.
